”Incidence” と "Prevalence"
Prevalence:
有病率
定義された母集団における全てのイベント数（例えば，ある特定の健康上の問題を持つ患者）であり，ある一時点におけるもの（点有病率）と，一定期間におけるもの（期間有病率）がある．通常，人口１千または１万対で表される．期間は１年，４年，一生が用いられる．

Palpable thyroid nodules have prevalence in iodine-replete populations of about 5% and an incidence of about 1 per 1000 per year.
Ultrasonographically detectable thyroid nodules are even more common at 17-67%,
but clinically important thyroid cancer is uncommon (20-80/million/year) and deaths from thyroid cancer are rare (5-8/million/year)

Introduction
Relative to leukemia, CNS/brain tumor, and lymphoma in children, thyroid cancer is rare, affecting approximately 1 in every 1000 to 2000 children (Prevalence) in the United States. Based on the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Cancer Registries, the age-standardized incidence rates (1987–1991) were 2.5 per 100,000 for males and 6.4 per 100,000 for females (Incidence) -
Discussion
Our study showed that the incidence rate ranged from 0.4–0.7 per 100000 in the USA (Incidence). Whereas there are no long-term temporal trend studies to our knowledge, the limited studies done in these perspectives identified incidence of pediatric thyroid cancer to be one in every 1000–2000 children (Prevalence) [17].
