Senior Staff Developer Advocate at Twitter. I love working with developers, and APIs. Did you hear about #TwitterAPI v2? Preferred pronouns: they/them
Reminder‼️ This week, on August 16th, User Streams, Site Streams, and the legacy Direct Message endpoints will be deprecated. Today's forum post shares what to expect as well as instructions for those who have not yet migrated off of these endpoints. twittercommunity.com/t/details-and-…
2018-08-14 03:14:19@TwitterAPI I would be happy to poll instead of stream or make whatever other changes were necessary to help your service run efficiently, but there is no replacement API available for user streams that comes close to feature parity
2018-08-14 03:54:20@TwitterAPI This is a bad decision and you know it. All you’re doing is making people want to leave your platform.
2018-08-14 06:53:09@TwitterAPI Here is an idea: how about you don’t turn them off? That would be better.
2018-08-14 08:11:05Dear @TwitterAPI @TwitterDev: your second-class treatment of third-party clients sucks. I would accuse you of anticompetitively trying to lock me into something but you killed the official Mac app too! Did you hire @nihilist_arbys to run your product roadmap or something? twitter.com/TwitterAPI/sta…
2018-08-14 04:08:44@TwitterAPI Guys you are bashing the @TwitterAPI team for no reason, the API is 10 years old and they gave sufficient notice and alternatives (account activity etc). other networks are cutting functionality without taking half the efforts to help as twitter are taking
2018-08-14 03:52:30@TwitterAPI Please don’t do it! Just don’t do it. I (and others) will probably leave the platform instead of moving to the native or web clients which are vastly subpar and noisier to @tweetbot and @Twitterrific #breakingmytwitter
2018-08-14 09:58:11@TwitterAPI While it’s clear that you have fairly little interest in the users of the applications impacted by this, I’ll add my voice to the chorus saying this is a user hostile decision that will harm highly active users, and make them reconsider their commitment to Twitter. //cc: @jack
2018-08-14 08:59:41@TwitterAPI Please don't kill Twitter. apps-of-a-feather.com
2018-08-14 03:58:03@TwitterAPI Just because your official app sucks donkey cock doesn't mean you have to kill off all the third-party clients that invented all the features that make Twitter Twitter (like... at mentions, hashtags...)
2018-08-14 03:40:03@TwitterAPI If only you went after Nazis on your platform with the same determination you have for killing off developers.
2018-08-14 03:39:26@TwitterAPI @TwitterDev @Twitter This is insanity. You still have time not to do that. #BreakingMyTwitter
2018-08-14 04:50:01@TwitterAPI Well this just sucks. You are breaking Twitter, Twitter.
2018-08-14 05:41:06@TwitterAPI It’s amazing how much contempt you have for your users and developers. Surely keeping users happy at least should be part of any logical business plan? Wait, @Jack is in charge, guess not.
2018-08-14 03:53:26@TwitterAPI This remains a bad decision terribly implemented. I really enjoy Twitter, as a service, but the continued disregard of Twitter, the company, for users of its APIs have me migrating my work off *all* twitter APIs.
