To the customer who accidentally got given a bottle of Chateau le Pin Pomerol 2001, which is £4500 on our menu, last night - hope you enjoyed your evening! To the member of staff who accidentally gave it away, chin up! One-off mistakes happen and we love you anyway 😉

@HawksmoorMCR Somehow reminds me of this story: squawkpoint.com/2014/01/critic… - I know one member of staff who you can (now) trust to never, ever serve the wrong bottle of wine. : )

@otteradrift @HawksmoorMCR Heard a similar thing from tech once, story goes someone accidentally wiped the live database or similar and was understandably scared they'd be fired. instead the boss said, "why would I fire you, I just spent thousands of dollars training you."

@Andrew_Taylor @otteradrift @HawksmoorMCR I once by accident released a £90k payment for work that hadn’t been delivered. I was sure I was going to get a formal warning, but my PM was like, “how about you develop a series of steps so this doesn’t happen again.”

@greendoondoon @Andrew_Taylor @otteradrift @HawksmoorMCR These is totally the right approach. We should design systems to minimise the opportunity for error - not punish those that make errors within the bounds of our systems.

@bencpye @greendoondoon @otteradrift @HawksmoorMCR Yeah, if you fire people whenever this kind of thing happens then you'll just have a lot of inexperienced people using a system that doesn't have enough checks in place. That's no way to run an anything.

@Andrew_Taylor @bencpye @greendoondoon @otteradrift @HawksmoorMCR I once (privately) offered to help solve a stress epidemic at work by documenting and fixing broken company processes for the benefit of everyone, with appropriate training. I was publicly told to get back in my box IN FRONT OF MY TEAM. I no longer work there, BTW.

@MolloyLaurence @bencpye @greendoondoon @otteradrift @HawksmoorMCR Wow. I doubt I'll ever stop being amazed at how many managers think they can scare people into being happy.

@HawksmoorMCR As someone who works in hospitality, bless you for being understanding and not flying off the handle at the poor lad/lass.

@SamHopperton @HawksmoorMCR Perhaps it is. But as it’s marketing that gives us a little chuckle and encourages kindness to employees, I’ll take it.

@cakeylaura @SamHopperton @HawksmoorMCR Exactly - im so sick of people finding fault with a positive action. Well done @HawksmoorMCR ...and i really feel for the poor guy - the feeling in his tummy when he realised what he did! We've all been there 🙄
