@nytimes i totally regret coming back to japan. i cannot go home until colleagues finish their jobs, and some are so tardy!! this happens because one task is divided into so many unnecessary steps and you just work as a part of the cycle, like chaplin's modern times, lowering motives

2019-06-19 06:21:23

@nytimes I used to work in Japan. They literally had people die at their desks sometimes, it was called "karoshi".

2019-06-19 05:22:48

@nytimes The saddest thing is that all that overwork and skipping vacations does NOT translate into huge productivity advantage for Japan. A gdp per person index on Wikipedia shows Japan at place 21, below even Italy!

2019-06-19 14:07:25

@nytimes Japanese companies have the least payed employees with longest working time among G7 nations still can’t win the global competitions. And they aren’t even aware why they can’t believing they are working hard everyday for good.

2019-06-19 08:51:08

🤫 @_HazirJawab

@nytimes Please make it available in India also 😭😂

Cruising Squidward @RunningLiAo

@nytimes So does China. I've worked overtime for more than 40 hrs this month. Many Chinese bosses don't usually care about staff's physical or mental state. What they want is to make you work at the cost of your personal life and anything about YOU.

2019-06-19 20:12:25
