When black cosplayers have prop weapons then they risk getting arrested or killed by the police. When they don't have then assholes tear down our cosplays. That it sucks & inaccurate but are less likely to do this with yt & non-black poc cosplayers who dont have theirs too. (6/9)

Yt cosplayers had guns at a beach for a shoot (I'm sure they were fake too), but they didn't get killed despite people calling the police. Notice the difference? If you didn't have to fear about losing your life because of a cosplay prop then congrats! You got privilege! (2/9)

This is what black cosplayers fear when it comes to weapon props. I feared this before Darrien got killed. When I cosplayed Saya Kisaragi from Blood-C with my prop sword years ago & D.va from Overwatch with my prop gun. And especially being at NYC. (3/9)

That's why when I cosplayed Motoko Kusanagi, I deliberately chose not to have any prop weapons, but people gave me a hardass time saying that my cosplay would've been perfect if I had a prop gun. They don't understand that black cosplayers don't have the luxury (4/9)

The police and people in general see our skin color as a threat alone. But add a prop weapon and in their eyes we're public enemy #1, but yt people carry real weapons and the police don't bother them. This was literally how Darrien Hunt and even Tamir Rice got killed. (8/9)

Yt cosplayers can easily carry prop weapons while going to cons and to location shoots with little to no issues, but black cosplayers are more likely to be stopped and even killed for doing the same thing. Let that sink in. (9/9)
