ゲームエンジンのUnityを開発している同名の会社がIronSourceという会社を合併したのですが、その会社が実はマルウェアも一緒に入れようとする怪しいインストーラーを開発していたところだということで、ゲーム開発者から抗議の声が上がっているらしいです。 twitter.com/pcgamer/status…

この会社のものかはともかくこうした怪しいインストーラーというのは見たことのある人は多いと思います。目的のツールをインストールする時についでにこれもどうぞという形でオプションで得体の知れない他のソフトウェアもインストールさせようとするものですね。

そしてこのIronSourceのインストーラーはMicrosoftのWindows Defenderが動作を止めようとするなど既に問題視されていて、こうした機能が将来Unityに組み込まれたらゲームの配布時にプラットフォームホルダーから睨まれて問題となりかねない、というのが抗議の内容の1つのようです。

i know making your own engine isn't nearly as accessible (especially for 3D) but i seriously think at least looking at open source alternatives would be really worth it
