ポツタム宣言はあくまでも宣言であり、条約ではない。 沖縄はサンフランシスコ条約(以下SF条約)の発効で信託統治領になり、主権を失ったわけではない。アメリカが沖縄返還協定で日本に沖縄の治権を返還した。 中華民国は台北条約でSF条約を追認したが、中華人民共和国はSF条約に署名していなかった。 twitter.com/j_sato/status/…

その背景として、琉球列島が日本の一部となったのは、1879年に併合され「沖縄県」と改称されてからのことです。
それ以前は、500年以上にわたって琉球王国と呼ばれる半独立国家（中国への朝貢国）であった。

Interestingly at the end of WW2, the Postdam declaration, which the Japanese accepted when they surrendered, determined that "Japanese sovereignty shall be limited to the islands of Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku" 🔽 so Okinawa wasn't there... pic.twitter.com/ChtMl1WXbW

面白いことにWW2終了時、日本が降伏時に受け入れたポツダム宣言で「日本の主権は本州、北海道、九州、四国の島々に限定する」と決められています🔽だから沖縄は無かったんですね...。

So back to today. China recently did a series of move with regards to Ryukyu/Okinawa. First Wu Jianghao, the Chinese ambassador to Japan, met with Yoshimi Teruya, deputy governor of Okinawa, in Tokyo for a long closed-door meeting.

The outcome of the meeting was an announcement that China would now be officially calling Okinawa prefecture by its old name "琉球", i.e. Ryukyu. Everyone can appreciate the symbolism here...
