@matigo Right. Rising Nikkei does *not* give you the right to rewrite history.

@tokyofashndaily Last time round his comments on comfort women really marked the beginning of the end for him. For his sake he shd keep away
2012-12-28 11:46:14
@capscorp It's inhuman. I'm sure the UN will have something to say about it if Japan does revoke apology, but nothing enforceable
2012-12-28 11:50:13
#Japan's 1993 apology on comfort women. Acknowledges the military coerced women into sexual slavery. Worth a reread. http://t.co/T9nmuJ2Y
2012-12-28 12:07:58
@sibauchi @xxcyanexx Right, popular view among revisionists is there was no coercion, and if there was, J-military had nothing to do w/ it
2012-12-28 12:16:15
@ARieLH11 GOJ acknowledged facts after a 2-yr study & gave an apology. Reneging on that will seriously discredit Japan.
2012-12-28 12:26:26
Even former PM Koizumi, Abe's mentor and frequent visitor to Yasukuni, issued this apology on comfort women: http://t.co/OkMjrQKy
2012-12-28 12:32:12
@Lisa_Twaronite That's the most horrible logic I've ever heard :(
2012-12-28 12:56:00
@ourmaninabiko @kankiknight NYT, most foreign media does too.
2012-12-28 12:56:15
@Lisa_Twaronite Very sad aspect of Japanese culture..
2012-12-28 13:00:15
@tokyoreporter @lisa_twaronite I'm not sure.. that apology has a bit of an unusual status so wd be hard to compare, find precedents
2012-12-28 13:01:39
@fukumimi @ourmaninabiko @kankiknight ..it's a literal translation of a Japanese euphemism.
2012-12-28 13:02:27
@fukumimi @ourmaninabiko @kankiknight and the women's testimonies -- all lies?
2012-12-28 13:10:30
@pablo069eh I think it depends on the textbook, but you're right, very different treatment of wartime history esp vis-a-vis Germany.
2012-12-28 13:15:38
@fukumimi @ourmaninabiko @KankiKnight wrong. i've intvd many women, the first when i was in HS. many testify were coerced by j-military men
2012-12-28 13:29:39
@fukumimi @ourmaninabiko @KankiKnight but the U.S. offers an apology and does not even start to talk about institutional complicity.
2012-12-28 13:34:18
@fukumimi @ourmaninabiko @KankiKnight Prof Yoshimi's historial account backed up by J-military, other docs, testimony http://t.co/0iB0KhSc
2012-12-28 13:53:42
@fukumimi @GregAtkinson_jp @kimiecat No, that would be sick at the end of a tweet that talks about women as if they were goods or services.
2012-12-28 14:12:58
NYTはまだオオニシ記者の慰安婦デマを信じてるのか RT @HirokoTabuchi: Even former PM Koizumi issued this apology on comfort women: http://t.co/0kRQLrdO
2012-12-28 14:54:44
2012-12-28 15:01:43
@ikedanob "I believe that our country.. with feelings of apology and remorse, should face up squarely to its past history.."
2012-12-28 15:04:20
@ikedanob "I thus extend anew my most sincere apologies and remorse to all the women who underwent immeasurable and painful experiences."
2012-12-28 15:06:52
