2018-08-11 14:00:34@Mikenicholls88 @OpenNem @dylanjmcconnell @chienleng true — many houses have relatively small systems. as soon as the economics are right (compounded with age) there'll be a large retrofit/upgrade market. pic.twitter.com/gob1tKuhP8
2018-08-16 16:30:46just a reminder that the “cleanest” coal is dirtier than diesel — and diesel is high emissions. pic.twitter.com/WSr8OmnCaZ
2018-08-28 16:44:49@claudiagallois not quite — i *tried* to convey that the “under 2% club” has emissions about the same as the US and china combined. sorry if that was unclear. pic.twitter.com/k6ITTDAGMY
2018-08-30 23:26:45@potcalling …of course solar wells are a thing. 😉 pic.twitter.com/lQGvqRUAEC
2018-08-31 10:11:39just a regular reminder that "baseload" generation is not required to run a modern grid — see south australia* *a globally recognised model of success, or as @AngusTaylorMP calls it: "a failed experiment". opennem.org.au/#/regions/sa pic.twitter.com/YigSBf5NmO
2018-08-31 14:19:52@Steve_Pinel @AngusTaylorMP @OpenNem thanks for noting — it's a rounding error/bug! the mega battery has discharged 0.7GWh during the week, or the equivalent of 5.4 complete cycles. ping @chienleng pic.twitter.com/g8ahfijO6M
2018-08-31 14:44:23things that *average* households spend more on than electricity: • restaurants • holidays • tobacco • fast food • telecommunications not the whole story, but interesting nonetheless. abc.net.au/news/2018-08-2… pic.twitter.com/cQnJyY7g3o
2018-08-31 15:22:24@simonahac @unclepete_100 @AngusTaylorMP @OpenNem Actually it's more than replaced coal! Coal generated about 4,800 GWh in FY08, and wind generated ~5,800 GWh in FY18 (Gas-powered generation in FY18 is also down 10% on FY08 levels). Gas has always been providing flexible capacity SA. First for coal, now for RE! pic.twitter.com/cun2VFzGHf
2018-08-31 16:21:28by the gov's own numbers, 🇦🇺 is on track to renege on our paris commitments (end of the dotted line) by a wide margin. here's one of my slides from recent @ActionBayside forum where @TimWilsonMP, @robgell & i discussed whether "gov't policy adequately addresses climate risk". pic.twitter.com/DwuRqsdDc4

2018-09-01 21:08:53@chrispydog @simonahac @unclepete_100 @AngusTaylorMP @OpenNem ...Seems to be a fairly strong relationship between Pelican Point output and interconnector flows. pic.twitter.com/3ikhdehd8L

2018-09-02 18:01:10@csfc67 @chrispydog @dylanjmcconnell @unclepete_100 @AngusTaylorMP @OpenNem actually, wind and solar have pushed out coal and gas: pic.twitter.com/Mf8WLoPV92

2018-09-03 13:47:28THREAD Thanks to China, the global nuclear fleet is closing in on record capacity, up 12GW / 3% to 363GW, says World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2018… (Current peak was 368GW in 2006, pre-Fukushima) …but new construction starts are in decline. worldnuclearreport.org 1/ pic.twitter.com/r06eT9QMa5
2018-09-04 18:07:46@DrSimEvans @MycleSchneider @antonyfroggatt There's something off with these figures. PRIS data has current capacity at just shy of 400 GW pris.iaea.org/PRIS/home.aspx pic.twitter.com/AUZPtwhjio
2018-09-04 19:17:07@seanjschen @dylanjmcconnell @GuardianAus you clearly haven’t looked at the data closely enough. SA is using *less* gas than it did a decade ago. pic.twitter.com/gLvbB6N6mZ
2018-09-05 05:41:00@6point626 @DrSimEvans @MycleSchneider @antonyfroggatt you know, anyone reading this casually would think that there were 399.8GW of nuclear in operation. a bit sneaky for my liking. pic.twitter.com/dzbMpAIOgQ
