@rjgeller 父：安倍晋太郎 (二男は安倍晋三） 1944年9月、第六高等学校にから入学わずか1年半で繰り上げ卒業となり東京帝国大学に推薦入学。 同時に #海軍滋賀航空隊 に #予備学生 として入隊。 太平洋戦争終結後、改称された東京大学法学部に復学。

@rjgeller I've read how he was slated to deploy near the end of the war, and was even sent home to say his farewell to his father, the anti-war MP Abe Kan, who said he shouldn't waste his life and that Japan would need young people like him after the war.

@observingjapan I don’t know if that was the case. Given that he was 海軍滋賀航空隊に予備学生 it seems more likely that he went home to say goodbye before being called to active service (which could have led to a combat assignment within months). If anyone knows more please let us know.

@rjgeller I just double checked my notes. The story is that he intended to *volunteer* as a kamikaze and informed his father of his intentions when he went home before being called up. It's a little ambiguous whether he was dissuaded or whether the war ended before he could follow through.

安倍晋太郎氏が特攻にいたのは『安倍三代』（青木理）で知った。おそらく安倍晋三氏がトランプ大統領に話したとおり「国への愛」から志願したのだろう。しかし同じく特攻に行った私の大伯父は違う。強制的に行かされたのだ。それがマジョリティーだと思う。間違ったことを教えないでほしい。 twitter.com/rjgeller/statu…

@KS_1013 安倍晋三（首相）の父、安倍晋太郎（元外務大臣）は一応、東京帝国大学在学中に海軍滋賀航空隊の予備学生で入隊しているから、トランプの言ったことは100％間違いではないです。海軍の航空隊は神風特攻隊と深い関係にあるわけですし。
