1972.1.30,北アイルランド,デリーのボグサイド地区において,デモ行進中の市民27人が英軍兵士に銃撃された事件.
別名,ボグサイド虐殺事件 Bogside Massacre .
デモは裁判なしの強制収容に抗議するため,北アイルランド公民権協会(NICRA)によって企画されたもので,これに対してパラシュート連隊第1大隊の兵士21人が108発発砲し,死者13人(4か月後にさらに一人死亡),負傷者13人の犠牲者を出した.
事件直後,首席裁判官ジョン・ウィジェリー卿による調査において,兵士たちは「撃たれた者は爆弾を投げようとしていた」などと証言.
4月,ウィジェリー法廷は兵士を無罪とする報告書を出したが,その報告書は広く批判を浴び,また,被害者およびその家族はその後25年にわたり、真実を明らかにするための本格的な司法調査を求める運動に時間を費やした.
1988年,独立調査委員会が事件の再調査を開始.
2010年,デモの被害者は全員非武装で,殺害は不当だったとする報告書を出した.
それを受けて殺人事件として捜査が始まり,兵士一人が殺人罪で起訴されたが,2012年に証拠不十分として控訴取り下げ.
その後,被害者遺族らによる控訴を受けて,検察庁は告訴再開.
2023年12月現在,裁判はまだ始まっていないという.
