From 4/1, the Japanese government began taking minutes of its cabinet meetings. These will be disclosed 3 weeks after the meeting is held.

According to Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, the aim of the minutes is to "improve the transparency level of cabinet meetings".

This is the 1st time the Japanese government has decided to officially take minutes of its cabinet meeting. The 1st cabinet was set in 1885.
