ICJ Bans Whaling in Antarctic Ocean

ICJ has ordered Japan to stop whaling in the Antarctic Ocean. Japan won't conduct whaling for scientific research in the Antarctic in 2014.

ICJ's ruling is final and cannot be appealed. The court ruling however does not put an unconditional ban on whaling for scientific research.

Japan will continue to conduct whaling for scientific research in the North-west Pacific Ocean, as this was not included in the ICJ ruling.
