@sasnscoderdojo Our Dojo runs for 90 minutes. We set up beforehand, we do a short game/ice-breakers, and then for the last ten minutes young people share what they've made by presenting it to others at the Dojo 😊 #ChatDojo

#ChatDojo で学生メンターについての話しが出てたので、最近気になってることを書いておきます！ 最近、中高生がChampionになる事例が増えていますが、大人は自分たちのコミュニティにもそういう子が出てほしいからと言って無理にChampionやメンターにさせてはいけないと思っています。

自分も高校1年生の頃から CoderDojo Kashiwa を主宰しています。だからこそ思うことがあります。中学生や小学生をメンターにすることで、その子の"技術的な"伸びしろを潰していないかどうか最大限の配慮をしないといけないと思います。 #ChatDojo

子どもたちにとって"代表"や"メンター"といった響きはとても魅力的です。これはバッジ制度と同じではないでしょうか。あるレベルまでいったら卒業して、そこから先は教え手側に回るというサイクルは、一見良いように思えますが、それが本当に当事者にとって良いかどうかはわかりません。 #ChatDojo

もし、メンターが不足していてある程度できる子どもたちにメンターをお願いするのならば、その子たちに選択する権利がないといけないと思います。もしそれができないのならばなんらかの形でその子たちに技術的な恩返しをしないといけないと思います。 #ChatDojo

という前提のもと柏の事例をお話すると、不定期ではありますが高校生メンター向けの技術的な勉強会を開催していたり、学生メンター同士のLT大会を開くなどしています。少しづつではありますが、技術力向上のための機会を提供できるようにしていきたい。 #ChatDojo

もちろん、教えるという行為は最強のセルフフィードバック行為なので、教えることによってその子の成長につながることもあります。しかし、それもある程度のレベルまで行くと頭打ちになる、というのが経験敵にわかりました。 #ChatDojo

以上です！本当はブログかFacebookのポストにまとめようと思っていたのですが、いい機会なので書いてみました。学生メンターって以外と大変だし、時間敵リソースが自分の好きなようにならないのはしんどいので、大人側は配慮することが大事ですね！ #ChatDojo

#ChatDojo @sasnscoderdojo @ucdcoderdojo What risk do I want to take this year in my dojo? I'd love to teach 4 ninjas (13+) in the UCD dojo how to solder, with their parents' permission of course. Parents will have the First Aid kit ready. You can only go so far with breadboards
