@SanyaRichiRoss @AtoBoldon it’s not a Paralympic WR for Blake in the 400m - he is not running on legal blades for @Paralympics sport, therefore his times DO NOT COUNT for record performances... still impressive times, but height and blade technology make a huge difference

@Zeante_ He is a disabled athlete, yes. But currently can’t run for Paralympics because of the regulations on blade technology that he is not abiding by. He is an amazing athlete, but it’s important to have educated conversations around the technology and blades that many athlete use

@TMAN1138pm @AtoBoldon @AllProtrack @TnFjunkie @NBCSN @usatf @AthleticsGif @JustSportsTweet @Blake_Leeper Today’s performance by Blake Leeper is going to create a lot of controversy. Those blades look like they could impede a runner in an adjacent lane down the stretch. Could be a problem if he runs anything but lead-off in the 4 x 400m relay. Still, 44.38 is NOT walkin’!

@Zeante_ Before we discuss blade technology, I have a question: If you increase your height as a sprinter and maintain your stride frequency, will you run faster, slower, or stay the same?

@DwightStones @TMAN1138pm @AtoBoldon @AllProtrack @TnFjunkie @NBCSN @usatf @AthleticsGif @JustSportsTweet @Blake_Leeper Clearly there is a mechanical advantage to his prosthetics. That being said, he brought it and it should be an interesting final!

@Zeante_ 🤙🏽 That’s before me even explaining the blade technology.. just trying to keep it 100

@Zeante_ Most definitely - But it’s important for people to be educated on the facts - not just go along with improper rhetoric that’s being distributed.

Would like to know the regulation of this event for prosthesis users. The regulation for paralympic is here paralympic.org/sites/default/… twitter.com/wallace_jarryd…

@wallace_jarryd @Paralympics @SanyaRichiRoss @AtoBoldon Totally agree bro. Technology has a massive impact on performance and this is also why our category and yours should be separate in all events!! Love share and talk with you our ideas to improve Paralympic sport and movement. #fairsport #paraathletics

@wallace_jarryd @Paralympics @SanyaRichiRoss @AtoBoldon It’s the same conversation distance runners are having w those Nike prototype comp shoes/unregulated blade length. They technology is not (yet) sanctioned so no WR. 44.3 is a fast time no matter who you are and he’s making space for disability in a “traditional” sport platform

Jarryd Wallace @wallace_jarryd

@lacesyourfriend @Paralympics @SanyaRichiRoss @AtoBoldon That’s a fair statement if we are just considering the technology, but when you are able to increase your height while also using this technology, the conversation changes. Both have to be considered, because both are happening.

@wallace_jarryd @Paralympics @SanyaRichiRoss @AtoBoldon Absolutely. The advantages vs disadvantages have to be better evaluated. Oscar could run based on rhetoric (the blades give a mechanical advantage- not true) BUT something has to be said when it doesn’t look good at 150m then ultimately win.

Earle Connor @EarleConnor

@wallace_jarryd @lacesyourfriend @Paralympics @SanyaRichiRoss @AtoBoldon He knows the approval process and he knows the correct height to use and he chooses not to...yes he trains hard, yes he is a great person...the blades are illegal it’s really that simple. It looks ridiculous to watch.

Ato Boldon @AtoBoldon

Because you can’t run a whole (reported) 44.6 second 400m race and then re-run it minutes later. RT @McGovConsulting: @AtoBoldon hey Ato- can figure out why Jon Jones didn’t re-run in Monaco?!
