Important not to dismiss tonight’s still ongoing developments as just an Iranian face saving reaction. Iran’s response to Soleimani’s death has *begun* - the real retaliatory attack may materialise later, unless there’s a turn of events that takes us toward de-escalation.

White House officials tell me President Trump has been in the situation room this morning with Vice President Pence, Secretary Pompeo and Secretary Esper, among others. It’s possible those same officials will join him in the Grand Foyer during the president’s 11 am remarks.
