ゲーム内のエロスについての論議が年々どれだけ酷い形で劣化していったかと言うと、こちらが正直でオープンな論議をやろうとしたChris Slateの、Playstation Magazineの記事。21年前のだ。
何故ララ・クロフトはまだ脱がないのか？（1999年9月）
ESRBはAO（大人限定）のレーティングを作成したが、それを使うプレイステーションゲームはまだない。使われることもないだろう。当たり前だが、ソニーは裸体があるゲームを売ることでカリフォルニア州のオフィスの外側に怒り狂った上院議員と親たちがピッチフォークと松明を手に集結するのを危惧している。そして、マグマたっぷりの大釜を使わざるを得なくなる。そしてそれは地獄レベルで洗いづらい。
冗談は置いといて、何故我々はまだ悪名高き「ヌードコード」を見てないのだろうか？悪趣味かどうかは置いといて、見たい人は沢山存在する。問題は主流観衆からゲームは子供の玩具だと見られているからである。プレステの持ち主の多くが20歳以上で多様な観衆が存在するのをガン無視した上でだ。AOがコンシューマ機に出てきたとき、子供に向けて不適切なゲームが売られていると思うだろう。
こう言う時、自分にとって適切か決めるのは自分自身だと、選ぶ権利を守るために私は真っ先に立ち上がるのだが、事実を見てみよう。今の売られ方では大人向けのゲームは子供の手に渡る可能性がある。そうでなければ、大手の店は売ってもらえない。それはパブリッシャーがビタ一文も儲からない事を意味する。
では、今月はこれらについて少し考えてほしいと思う。
1：ソニーはゲームにエロや大人向けの状況を入れるのを許すべきか？
2：子供が大人向けゲームを手にしない保証をしながら、より多くの店で売らせる方法は？
3：ゲームにエロは必要か？それともエロは18禁ポルノがプレステの環境に入る切っ掛けにしかならないか？返事をお待ちしております。興味深い返事をここに書きます。

@LunarArchivist @seri3ma @be_wormholed @rayforcegame @ChrisSlate It's crazy that just about every problem laid out in that article has been more or less entirely solved by Steam (warts and all). Consoles will sadly continue to be PG rated toys as long as stockholders need to be appeased.
2020-04-11 06:59:20この問題点、Steamの出現によって大体解決されてるって考えてみるとクレイジーだよな。コンシューマ機は残念だが株主を喜ばせなければならない以上、PG指定の子供の玩具であり続けるしか道はない。

@Jkcomish @seri3ma @be_wormholed @rayforcegame @ChrisSlate I mean, the obvious solution to this would be for Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony to create 18+ areas of their online stores that're inaccessible without some kind of age verification or just sell physical copies of those games exclusively at Game Stop, Amazon, etc. online stores.

Setting aside the SJW aspects, it's bad enough when some military shooter or horror game comes out. Add in nudity/sexuality* to the mix, and countless politicians and Twitter mobs would be (faux?) outraged.

ポリコレ的な部分は置いといても、ミリタリーFPSやホラーゲームは出てくるだけで既に（反応は）酷い。
そこでエロスを入れると、無数の政治家とツイッター上のモブがブチギレるのが目に見える。（或いはブチギレたフリ？）

I think the only way we're ever going to see this change is to wait about three or four generations until children or teenagers who were hardcore gamers grow up and become politicians.

And even that until the internet got broadband=normal meant 99% of the market. EVERY major store chain had promised NOT to carry any "AO" rated game. GTA San Andreas is proof of that.
