This is a tool that produces beautiful maps of cities where roads are colored by street orientation. Road.tiny-app.net. More info about the tool here: urbandemographics.org/post/roads-col… pic.twitter.com/W50O5NRKkq

Another great map-generator by @anvaka & forked by @mitsuchi to color streets. It downloads roads from @openstreetmap, renders them with WebGL, and colors streets by orientation. 😊 I wouldn't mind having this one of #Quezon City as a poster or shirt. road.tiny-app.net pic.twitter.com/UFh57XROsB

This app, which colors the streets of any locality by orientation, makes it clear why Brooklyn's street commissioners of 1838 were frustrated by their task of creating a single unified grid out of "no less than ten systems or parallelisms of streets." road.tiny-app.net pic.twitter.com/LbKjhrm5Ia

That is how São Paulo looks like :) Here is another toll if you like this kind of representation. I find it easier if you want to compare two regions of one city or different cities. mourner.github.io/road-orientati… twitter.com/UrbanDemog/sta… pic.twitter.com/W3yZeQBeU9

See the gridded streets? That's where I can bike. Once the grid gives way to the auto-oriented development out east, it becomes inconvenient, uncomfortable, dangerous. #rockford (check out road.tiny-app.net, really nice project!) twitter.com/mapmakerdavid/… pic.twitter.com/4AlDhUsrYr

Fun stuff! Here’s my hometown. Trivia fact of the day: the circular highway surrounding it, Ross Clark Circle, was the first bypass highway built around any city in the United States (c. 1958) twitter.com/mapmakerdavid/… pic.twitter.com/4VAECPPKlj
