影響力が極めて小さな「個人にできること」は個人でやって、もしそれを発信する際には、「いくら個人の行動を変えても、もっともっと影響力が大きくて効果がある政治的活動に関わって社会のシステムを変えないと意味がなくなってしまう」というメッセージを強調して発信すればいいと思います。

個人の行動の変化が政治的行動を起こすきっかけになればいいですが、個人の行動を強調すると、気候変動や環境汚染、環境正義／気候正義問題の原因をつくってきた化石燃料産業や汚染企業、富裕層、政治家の責任をぼやけさせる誤ったメッセージなんです。そしてそれは化石燃料産業の思うツボです。

For what it's worth, I think we're doing young people a massive disservice by instilling the message that their future is doomed due to climate change. Not only bad for their mental health, but I also don't think this pessimistic outlook is productive in moving forward.

77% of young people say they are frightened of the future. 58% say they think humanity is doomed... Climate change is changing the way we think, and our ability to function. Imagine the psychological effect it will have on an entire generation.

Right now, I don't see any politicians with the courage to do this. But as the public gets more and more freaked out by climate disasters, it will take less and less courage on their part. (Real leadership would be recognizing this, selling the public on it, and moving faster)

By the way, I am not talking about people voluntarily using less energy and changing their lifestyles. Far from it. Instead I am talking about the clear need for policies that begin prioritizing uses of energy and phasing out fossil fuels in a coordinated and equitable way.
