@ChihiroHowe This has been a on-going debate for about 10 years. The topic keeps coming back again with more intensity in the last 3 years or so since the Japanese domestic market has become increasingly saturated while international companies have become more prominent in expanding markets.

@ChihiroHowe I believe 1) Making manga & anime more Western does not guarantee higher sales in the West. 2) Creators should decide what to communicate to which audiences. 3) Making it easier for overseas audiences to support Jp content is more important than making content be more Western.
2020-07-09 15:31:54これはもう10年は続く論争だ。日本の市場が飽和しまくってる中で海外の企業が市場拡張に力を入れてから、ここ三年でこの論争は力強く舞い戻り続けてきたな。
1：アニメをより西洋化しても西洋で売れる保証はない。
2：読者に何を伝えるのかは作者が決めるべきである。
3：日本のコンテンツを海外から支援しやすくするのは、コンテンツを西洋化するよりも大事な事である。
私はそう思います。

@ChihiroHowe Honestly I love manga/anime because it's different from the world standard. It's uniquely "Japanese" and gives anime/manga the identity that has built a huge fandom around the world Limiting anime/manga to what the rest of the world does would take away some of my favorite shows

@ChihiroHowe There is no world standard because there are countless countries that read manga meamwhile creating their own comics. They all have different standards. Japan should just keep creating -their- stuff. That is one of the reason it became so popular to begin with.

@ChihiroHowe Manga and anime got popular BECAUSE it's unique, not in spite of it. Only in Japan can you get a story about teenagers who turn into weapons and eat souls, or a story about a super-powered firefighters beating up a Knight's Templar cult.
