米国、アラバマ州カルマン郡において、8月11日の学校再開から僅か5日間で、生徒と教職員の373人が検査陽性もしくは検疫中（隔離中）となった。カルマン郡には28の学校があり、9,000人以上の生徒がいるとするが、実際の登校者数（母数）は不明。

同じく、アラバマ州バーミンガムの市立学校（43校）では、8月2日から学校再開し2週目で感染者が4倍に急増。 1週目は生徒31人、教職員3人が感染判明。隔離28人。 2週目は生徒125人、教職員16人が感染判明。隔離258人。同じく登校者数（母数）は不明。バーミンガムは教職員のみ、マスク義務化。

8月10日に学校が再開された、テキサス州アイラアーンのシェフィールド独立学区が、学生と教職員が検疫できるようにと月曜から2週間閉鎖された。感染者数について現在非公開。マスクの着用は任意だった。この学区には約380人の学生がいるとされる。
