@culturaltutor Beautiful, and love that one can see buildings from so many eras
2023-08-31 00:25:22@culturaltutor Today, I learned something new. Thank you for this incredible post.
2023-08-31 00:27:59@culturaltutor Wow, it's super beautiful! It looks like it was just made to look cute on a postcard 😍

2023-08-31 00:32:38Everyone's heard of the pyramids of Egypt but would you ever think there would be something like this in the Highlands of Scotland!? This pyramid is actually called a 'Cairn', and is located at Balmoral in the Cairngorms National Park. The pyramid is a cairn, a memorial or landmark built of rough stones, and is one of 11 within the Balmoral estate, the majority of which were erected by Queen Victoria. It is the largest of the lot, built in memory of the monarch's husband Prince Albert after his death in 1861.
2023-08-31 00:19:40@culturaltutor Wow. Plovdiv! And if you would like to read a beautiful story, partly taking place in Plovdiv, then go read The Shadow Land by Elisabeth Kostova. It's a breathtaking story that I just read and enjoyed immensely. Gives you insight to how things were run in Bulgaria. pic.twitter.com/Rv9eLcJfU0
2023-08-31 02:39:49@culturaltutor Plovdiv is a home of beautiful Pinot Noir 🍷
2023-08-31 02:00:41@culturaltutor Albania has some of the most beautiful castle cities in southern Europe. Berat, built in 4th century BC. pic.twitter.com/mySYSIfnTJ
2023-08-31 00:42:42@culturaltutor I love Plovdiv. I was just there for most of July. I caught this shit while at the amphitheater one night. pic.twitter.com/pDNTvoMDXL
2023-08-31 04:48:11@culturaltutor I visited the city few years ago. Highly recommendable. Small city though, you can pay a short visit and get a good grasp.
2023-08-31 06:42:33@culturaltutor I was stuck at Plovdiv “airport” (sparse ex-military base) for about 10 hours in 1992 when the hotel at the ski resort lost our passports until “finding them in our room” only after our charter flight had left for the UK. No idea the town itself was so nice.
2023-08-31 01:15:08@culturaltutor “Kapana” means “trap” and my fiancée is from Plovdiv. These two facts are unrelated. 😂♥️
2023-08-31 01:01:49@culturaltutor Coventry City fans have heard of (Trakia) Plovdiv as it's the 1st team CCFC beat in a European competition (back in 1970). I never knew it was such a historic & beautiful place. Coventry has its treasures too (honest!)
2023-08-31 02:58:44@culturaltutor You could have mentioned it was one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2019.
2023-08-31 01:29:01@culturaltutor My hometown! Because we are so spoiled with cultural artifacts, Plovdiv is known for being the laid-back city of the Balkans (bordering on laziness). The joke in Bulgaria is that all we do is hang around cafes and drink beer on Roman ruins, and no work ever gets done.
2023-08-31 02:43:55@culturaltutor Your posts are a treasure as well. Thanks @culturaltutor
