はあ、また世界経済フォーラムのジェンダーギャップ指数が話題になる時期がきたか。毎年毎年メディアがご丁寧にこの指数を報道しつつ中身にちゃんと触れないから、ランキングだけが一人歩きするんだよな。。

男女格差報告の結果だけみて｢日本は男女差別がひどい。｣って主張する人がいるけど、別の調査のジェンダー不平等指数では日本は高評価なんですよね。一つの調査結果だけ見てると問題の本質を見失いかねない。

ジェンダーギャップ指数は、まず日本のランキングだけでなく、すべてのランキングをチェックして、各指標をチェック、そして各指標の算出の方法までチェック。その上で、限界をよく理解した上で使うならいいけれども、ただランキングだけをとりだして使うのは問題多すぎ。

今年はニカラグア９位、レソトは例年よりランキングをかなり落として１４位。たとえばこのあたりはカナダや米よりランキング高い。そしてモザンビーク２３位、ウガンダ２８位などなど。このあたりも日本よりかなりランキングが高いのだけど、その内情は、、と考えてみる必要があると思う。
