Reaction to TH 13.5 demo
Incidentally, Hopeless Masquerade has THE MOST INSANE Xbox 360 pad mappings. It treats the D-Pad as buttons. Up confirms, Down cancels.
2012-12-30 17:23:15I guess it's better than not recognizing the d-pad at all?
2012-12-30 17:23:34@botoggle Yeah... I actually think it's 100% the right game for the modern touhou fanbase though, which is mostly not gamers. Not me.
2012-12-30 17:24:59And no matter what you do, it will always be so in the menus. For the love of God, somebody, PLEASE buy Japanese indie devs a gamepad.
2012-12-30 17:25:07@mauvecow It's not even an IMPROVEMENT on Astra Superstars. Every single change has slown down or complicated the game.
2012-12-30 17:26:00@mauvecow In ASS, the mash-A autocombo was a guaranteed guard break. The idea was it kept you moving and dodging. Not in TSS.
2012-12-30 17:26:23@mauvecow Instead it takes a small -- very small -- chunk off the spirit gauge. So you won't be guard-breaking like, ever.
2012-12-30 17:26:52@botoggle Yeah that sounds like tasofro alright. They like making their blocking/defensive games fantastically 'unique'.
2012-12-30 17:28:30@mauvecow It looks like they realized there needs to be a reason to jump/dive, so now jumpstart frames graze. Apparently not dashes.
2012-12-30 17:29:20@mauvecow There doesn't seem to EVER be a reason not to upback pressure, actually. If you time it right, you graze, wrong, you block.
2012-12-30 17:32:13@botoggle Coulda sworn I saw some dash graze in the trailer. Ah, whatever. I'll see if japan makes something of it but not expecting much.
2012-12-30 17:32:15@mauvecow And all Reimu's melee attacks are too slow/have too small a hitbox to not be jumped on reaction.
2012-12-30 17:32:44@mauvecow Oh wait my bad, that's what the Star Rating's for. Defending makes it lower a lot. So timeover is the key.
2012-12-30 17:33:51@botoggle They have a thing for making Reimu staunchly mid-tier in the fighters. Their favorite chars are always top (hi Sakuya).
2012-12-30 17:34:23@botoggle It's not anime SFxT until it turns out to be hilariously buggy. Waiting for Megaman glitch.
2012-12-30 17:34:53@mauvecow Nah, it's anime SFxT post-patches. No longer buggy, but still so slow and boring (and time-consuming to run) that nobody likes it
2012-12-30 17:35:43Too tired to not make an idiot out of myself tonight, apparently.
2012-12-30 17:35:44@botoggle Post-SFxT doesn't even blip on my radar as a game that exists. They do have the tedious gem setup copied though!
2012-12-30 17:36:47@mauvecow Oh my god, just defend in this game is like a no-mash vampire savior pushblock, ahahahaha
2012-12-30 17:41:00@botoggle where the hell do you irc so we can stop spamming up twitter
2012-12-30 17:42:01@Ionustron yeah, you can see that i was just discussing it. looks really bad, tbh. it's an astra superstars clone all the way through.
2012-12-30 17:49:43@Ionustron fanbase is mostly non-gamers now. doujin music, art, comics, etc. character and setting love. and you have to admit, it's flashy.
