What does Boeing know today, that they did not know then, that would lead them to grounding the 737 MAX, just after the JT610 disaster? This statement comes at no cost, so I feel clarity is warranted. Literally, what is the defining criteria?

One option after JT610, would have been to quickly disable MCAS through software update, as a first step. MAJOR hazard in the operational flight envelope, MINOR in normal. Preferable to exposure to combined malfunction with air data and stall warning, due to one bad AoA vane? pic.twitter.com/DEiIqdlvPj

In my unscientific Twitter poll of user attitudes towards flying on the Boeing 737 Max once its airborne again, a whopping 62% of respondents either said they’d never fly on it or that they’d wait a year or two. Only 24% said they’d fly on the plane if “they say it’s OK”. pic.twitter.com/xZD8fqj5mN
