1978 report by 🇺🇸House of Rep Subcommittee on Investigations stated that 🇰🇷the Unification Church was established by Kim Jong-soo, Director of 🇰🇷 KCIA (Korean Central Intelligence Agency), under the direction of President Park Chung-hee, to achieve it's political goals of Korea.

In Sep 2021, former Pres Trump spoke at a Unification Church event. During the Cold War, Abe's grandfather, former PM Kishi, met Moon Myung Moon of the Unification Church, a KCIA operative, at the urging of the US and the CIA, which wanted to prevent the communization of Asia.

However, the Unification Church, which was supposed to be Anti-Communist, became closer to North Korea after the end of the Cold War and became complicit in the destruction of Japan-South Korea relations, including the comfort women issue.
