Not often do you see a catcher balk but here's how we took the lead! @NCAABaseball pic.twitter.com/ns4vyRH9n5

2023-03-29 08:30:43これに対し、ボークではないという意見が多数あげられる(事実、ボークではなく捕手のエラーが記録される)
@R_Hayes19 It's also not a "catcher's balk," but a detached equipment violation. E2.
2023-03-29 12:00:13@mglovesfun @BaseballQuotes1 No this was not called a catcher’s balk. The catcher was called for using detached player equipment. He used his mask to stop the ball. We can clearly hear the umpire saying detached equipment. The catcher was not out of the box when the pitch was released either.
2023-03-29 14:24:02@mattquinn1975 @BaseballQuotes1 It's not called a balk at all, it's considered catcher's interference and an E2.
2023-03-29 14:52:33@callen0013 @BaseballQuotes1 It’s not. A catchers balk is only on a squeeze play or runner trying to steal home. If during a pitch, the catcher comes out of the box and steps on home or in front of home to make a play on the base runner, and in doing so “interferes” with a batter’s attempt to hit the pitch.
2023-03-29 14:54:27@JomboyMedia There was no “catcher’s balk”. The catcher intentionally touched the ball with his mask, which is a “detached equipment” penalty. Touching a pitched ball is a one base award for all the runners (2 on a throw, 3 on a hit). The more you know, the less you’ll confuse your audience.
2023-03-29 15:12:21@JomboyMedia This is actually catcher’s interference, not a balk. But i wouldn’t expect jomboy to know the difference
2023-03-29 21:20:56@StoolBaseball Not a catcher’s balk. It was equipment interference. You can not use any part of your equipment (mask) to scoop up the ball.
2023-03-29 22:08:43It's shitty tweets like this that continue to perpetuate officials abuse. A) it's not a catcher's balk B) The base umpire correctly announces a detached equipment violation and awards bases. C) Catcher's cannot use their mask to stop/control the ball twitter.com/barstoolsports…
2023-03-29 22:29:08@JomboyMedia It isn't a balk. A catcher's balk would be leaving the catcher's box to receive a pitch. That's the only balk by a catcher in the rules. He used detached equipment to retrieve the ball. That's an illegal act. The same as throwing your glove at the ball.
2023-03-29 23:05:18@jeffokpt Yea it’s not a balk, barstool just stupid. It’s usually called time and “catchers interference” or “equipment interference” somewhere in that range. I hate it here, absolutely hate it, but the ump is right. If the catcher wouldn’t have made the act at the last second of..
2023-03-29 23:07:50@jbo911 @JasonStadelMT @JomboyMedia There’s only two types of catchers balks Check the rule book and not Google! It’s there in black and white. If the catcher moves out of the catchers’s balk prior the pitcher releasing the ball or if the catcher steps on the plate while catching a pitch (steal of home).
2023-03-29 23:32:32That’s not a “catchers balk” but that’s totally a rule, you can’t put your mask (or hat) over the ball while it’s in play. As much as umpires lately have been showing how useless they are, this one is 100% on the catcher. twitter.com/StoolBaseball/…
2023-03-29 23:51:34Have you ever seen a catcher balk before? pic.twitter.com/Pv0sJvudEy
2023-03-29 08:55:15@BaseballQuotes1 It's not a catcher's balk. It's using detached equipment to stop the ball. 100% the right call.
2023-03-29 23:54:20@JasonStadelMT @jbo911 @JomboyMedia No it’s not ever called a catchers balk! It’s called use of detached player equipment. In 15 years of umpiring high school and college baseball I have never called it a catcher’s balk nor have I ever any other umpire call it that. A balk is something done during or before a pitch
2023-03-29 23:55:05@JomboyMedia This is not a balk…it’s catcher’s interference by rule because of the use of the face mask to stop the ball.
2023-03-30 02:54:54@BaseballQuotes1 It’s not a balk. It’s catcher’s interference. Recorded as an E2.
2023-03-30 04:59:10@BaseballQuotes1 It’s not a balk. It’s an equipment violation by the catcher.
