PISA の報告書（UK編）を読むと、イギリスは学力が落ちている。日本は上がった。しかし、日本では子どもたちは教師を信頼していないし、教師の権威も低い。イギリスは逆。全体的に感じるのはイギリスは子ども中心の教育を実践しているが、日本はしていないらしいこと。

イギリスの方が日本より明らかに初等中等教育の教師の「学力」レベルは低いと思われるのに、あるいはそれ故にか、教師と生徒の信頼関係が遥かに深い。「出来のよい」日本の子どもたちが教師のモチベーションを下げていて、「出来の悪い」イギリスの子どもたちは反対という図が浮かび上がる。

イギリスに来たばかりの日本人の子どもたちは、他の子どもをけなす傾向があるのを感じる。それはイギリス人の子どもたちにはまず見られない。自分のことは根拠もなく自慢する様子は滑稽に見えることは多々あるが、それは他人をけなしてのことではない。日本の親や教師はそのあたり大丈夫か？と思う。

何より思うのは、イギリス人の子どもは「子どもらしい」。日本人の子どもたちは「子どもらしくない」ことが多い。素直に感情を表現する習慣が日本人にはないことなどが大きいと感じる。

@YumikoKunimori http://tinyurl.com/24r3xrc のメソッドをちらと見る限りでは、あくまで quantative なサーベイ形式のクエッショネアー中心で、エスノグラフィカルなアプローチはなされていないようです。ちょっと詳しく調べてみます。
