Boeing shelved plans to shed another 10,000 workers by the end of the year; CEO sees urgency in restarting order intake from China wsj.com/articles/boein… via @dougcameron @ @AndrewTangel
2021-07-28 23:12:10$BA CEO expects that China and other remaining regulatory approvals for the 737 Max will occur this year.
2021-07-28 23:39:24“We are turning the corner and the recovery is gaining momentum,” says Boeing CEO David Calhoun on today's 2nd quarter conference call.
2021-07-28 23:37:54The first thing @Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun says on the company's quarterly earnings call: "Please encourage everyone you know to get the vaccine."
2021-07-28 23:36:30Boeing posted its first quarterly profit in two years, helped by deliveries of its best-selling 737 MAX jets to airlines as travel bookings rebounded from global COVID-19 vaccination rates reut.rs/2Wu2YUu pic.twitter.com/Cf7Y71FcpA
2021-07-28 23:30:08$BA CEO said that Boeing expects to deliver the first 777x in late 2023, as announced earlier.
2021-07-28 23:47:01Boeing CEO tells @CNBC he doesn't think the delta variant will have "severe repercussions" on global air travel recovery though it could weigh on widebody demand. Says airplane cabins are safe. (Thing is people land and question is how Covid spreads at origin/destination) $BA
2021-07-28 22:13:06Boeing CEO David Calhoun says the company's work force will remain steady going ahead, around 140,000, not further down, but not up either.

2021-07-28 23:52:12Boeing's backlog of unbuilt airliners stands at 4,155 worth $285 billion
2021-07-29 00:06:10Boeing CFO said that the peak use of cash for 777x program occurred in 2020. He expects cash flow to improve as we get closer to and begin deliveries in late 2023.
2021-07-29 00:03:31Boeing CEO says labor availability is a "watch item." Big 180 from last year when it was slashing jobs as fast as possible after travel demand dried up. Comments echo what we've heard from Boeing's airline customers this summer. $BA
2021-07-28 23:59:42Margins on @Boeing 787 are "near to zero" says interim CFO. Avoiding reach forward loss, so far.
2021-07-29 00:44:10Boeing’s surprise Q2 profit is a sign that the worst period in the plane maker’s history is over. But investors shouldn’t forget that Boeing’s homemade problems aren’t going anywhere. wsj.com/articles/boein… writes @jonsindreu
2021-07-29 02:27:53Well, this is a surprise. There were only 10 (Ten) @Boenig 737 MAXes delivered from inventory in the second quarter, according to SEC filings. I would have thought more would have come from inventory.
2021-07-29 07:30:29Since the MAX was recertified, Boeing has delivered about 60 from inventory and +/-130 in total (ie, +/- 70 from production).
2021-07-29 07:33:25The question of the 787’s profitability is not solely one for a question of quarterly results, but ultimately how Boeing brings new airplanes to market and ensures they can sustainably invest in projects that yield a positive overall long-term return. theaircurrent.com/aircraft-produ…
2021-08-03 10:52:26Boeing, under intensifying regulatory scrutiny after the fatal MAX crashes, has been directed by the FAA to rework its flight manuals for both the 777X and MAX 10 to include detailed emergency pilot procedures. seattletimes.com/business/boein…
2021-08-03 09:13:18FAA has long been lax in terms of requiring updated flight manuals - even when the manufacturer has zero influence. It’s not that Boeing got a special deal, this is just how the FAA works/worked. A thread: twitter.com/dominicgates/s…
2021-08-03 22:36:00This is a heavily modified Cessna 182Q. The major airframe and power plant modifications are the canards, the wing extensions, the engine and prop, and of course the bigass tires. One company will do all these modifications at once, if you’ve got a few hundred grand lying around. pic.twitter.com/coQ2W6eT1r
2021-08-03 22:36:20That plane as modified crashed twice, once in 2009 (pictured) when it went off a short gravel bar and into a river, and again in 2014 when it stalled on approach to a backcountry airstrip and crashed in some trees. The second crash was the end of the plane, but the pilot lived.
2021-08-03 22:36:22The NTSB report for the second crash was scathing - toward the manufacturer and the FAA, mostly. Long story short, each modification was certified individually by different companies, and this other company took them all and put them together. But…
2021-08-03 22:36:23The pilots operating handbook was never updated properly to reflect that not only did each modification have its own changes to how the airplane flew, but together they made the plane fly different than either originally *or* as modified piece by piece.
2021-08-03 22:36:25Worse, here’s a relevant NTSB report excerpt: “Review of FAA-approved performance data in the original Cessna POH and all the STC POH supplements indicated that… the (company)-advertised values were significantly more optimistic than those in the published/approved data."
