According to this Reddit post, #ASA1282 from PDX to ONT tonight lost a window and unoccupied seat and experienced a rapid decompression after takeoff. The plane landed back at PDX safely. #avgeeks @AirlineFlyer @flightradar24 pic.twitter.com/RO3prc7oXd
2024-01-06 11:12:40Have reached out to both Alaska Airlines and Boeing on this. The aircraft involved was a brand new 737 Max 9 delivered to the airline at the end of October. This is an extremely hazardous and also rare occurrence. twitter.com/bricaul/status…
2024-01-06 11:51:18According to that photo, it’s the mid-aft door that is missing. That door, for carriers like Alaska, is deactivated in the factory by Boeing before delivery. Passengers don’t even know it’s a door because it’s just a normal sidewall and window in the 737 Max 9 cabin. pic.twitter.com/b0Eb38cjI7
2024-01-06 11:57:55The door would be activated to increase passenger capacity on the 737 Max 9 (or the 737-900ER before it) to seat up to 215 passengers. This is what it looks like when it’s activated for use. pic.twitter.com/isopablE4j
2024-01-06 12:02:22This photo from Portland confirms that the mid-aft exit door on N704AL was the one involved in the incident. twitter.com/avgeekjake/sta…

2024-01-06 13:21:20Looks like this indicates the seat next to the door in question was unoccupied... thankfully. #AS1282 twitter.com/tvheidihatch/s…

MAXはANA、JAL、スカイマークも導入予定 twitter.com/flightradar24/…

2024-01-06 14:26:17@jonostrower Is this plug door unique to Max or something on older 737s too?
2024-01-06 14:26:44@sna23 Not unique to the Max 9 and Max 8200. It’s found on the older generation 737-900ER that preceded the Max 9.
2024-01-06 14:27:51This is the door (in the red circle) that separated from the aircraft (image not the same registration, but same aircraft type). Alaska’s 737-9 MAX seating configuration is not dense enough to require the mid-aft cabin exit, so the door is deactivated and standard sidewall paneling is used on the interior. To a passenger, it’s just like any other seat.
